How Stress Affects The Body

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

Whether you’re facing a tough deadline at work or feeling the pressure from handling too many family functions, stress can take a toll on your body. In ways you may not even realize, stress begins to show up. Consider some of these common side effects of stress overload:

  • Headaches

  • Heartburn

  • Heart palpitations

  • Dry Mouth

  • Insomnia

  • Stomachaches

While organizing tasks and checking items off a “to-do” list may help reduce some of the mental fatigue, your body needs a different treatment for stress. Chiropractic care adjusts the spine into proper alignment. That realignment relieves the pressure that’s felt in other parts of the body, like we mention above. Sometimes Dr. Gebaide will even use acupuncture to treat stress.

Acupuncture is most commonly used for stress but can also treat pain in some patients. Acupuncture points are placed to stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. With a personalized mix between acupuncture and chiropractic care, your chiropractor can reduce the tension built up in your spine, allowing relaxing from the stress. When a spinal misalignment is addressed through chiropractic, the proper signals are sent to your nervous system. Your doctor will concentrate on specific areas of challenge for you, as each body handles stress differently.

Please consult with your doctor or Dr. Gebaide to see if this could be for you. If you have any questions you'd like answered, please e-mail us at info@centrevillechiro.com.
